Hi! I am so excited to share a blog site with Mrs. Powers this year! It is a great way to keep up on current events in first grade and practice ongoing skills being learned in our classrooms. I’d like to tell you a little about myself, even though most of my families know me already. This is my eighth year of teaching, although it feels as if I’ve done it all my life. My previous full time job was having the privilege of staying home while our 3 boys were young.
I returned to school when they were all in school and was absorbed into the North Platte Public School District immediately upon graduating. I did my student teaching in first grade, taught a semester of 2nd grade and have been in Kindergarten since. I am looking forward to returning to first grade and working and learning from Mrs. Powers.

These are my 3 boys, Brandon 24, Zachary 21, and Ryan 17.

Brandon served in the Marine Corps flying as a crew chief on helicopters for the White House and now lives on the East coast. He is involved in his band playing drums and going to school. Zach is attending the University of Omaha and is studying aviation. He is very involved in his church and community work during his free time. Ryan is a junior at the High School and is serving as an academic intern in our classroom for the first term! We are so excited to have him on the playground during recess to spin the kids int he “spinner”! Ryan’s big adventure this summer was going to Ethiopia with his youth group on a mission trip.

This is Mr. Henderson. He works for FedEx delivering packages from here to Julesburg every day! He has worked there for 25 years! He helps run the sound board at our church and also teaches a Sunday School class for parents of the senior high youth. He knows how to fix or build about anything and is especially gifted with his camera. He honors our family in many ways and I appreciate his patience with the many hours I spend away from home preparing for school each week.

Taz is our Rat-Terrier dog. He loves to go for walks in the summer and then cool down in his little pool. He splashes around just like a kid! He is clever but clumsy, and really keeps us laughing!

I grew up by the mountains and ocean in California. I love to hike, bike, read and spend time outside in the garden. My greatest joy is spending time with my family and children and honoring the Lord with service work when I can. Teaching is an extension of my passion and love of children and learning.

I am looking forward to partnering with you this year! It’s going to be a terrific year!
